Description: The Flaminia sedan began its life at the end of the first half of 1957, the period when regular production was approximately commenced. The registration data in Italy for 1957 are telling: 2 units in March, then, after a four-month gap, 1 in July, 36 in August, 68 in September, 105 in October. A growing success. By year-end, 371 Flaminias were sold in Italy. The following year, sales would nearly double.
The Flaminia thus presents itself with styling that many judge very positively and which clearly distinguishes itself from contemporary Italian models as well as those of American inspiration.
Particularly successful is the rear section of the bodywork, featuring modest-sized fins that terminate with triangular-shaped tail lights. Worthy of mention is the adoption of dual windscreen wipers fitted to the rear window (which, however, somewhat inexplicably, were discontinued in 1960).
In side view, despite the considerable dimensions of the body, the Flaminia displays a streamlined profile, thanks in part to a character line running the entire length of the side.
The finishes are excellent, in perfect Lancia style, as is the interior, comfortable and spacious, where the wide front bench seat (nearly one and a half meters wide) can accommodate 2 passengers in addition to the driver.
The performance figures are also noteworthy: maximum speed of 160 km/h, lively acceleration (0-100 in 17″ according to Quattroruote magazine’s test), fuel consumption (CUNA standards) of 12.5 liters per 100 kilometers. This example we are offering is an excellent candidate for a complete restoration, starting from a very good foundation. It currently has a 2.8 cc engine fitted instead of its original 2.5 cc, which is nevertheless supplied with the vehicle. An important flagship of the era which, after professional restoration, will undoubtedly capture the hearts of many Lancia enthusiasts who long for genuine motorcars. Available for sale.
