Description: The Bianchina cabriolet project dates back to 1959 and bears the signature of engineer Luigi Rapi, who moved from Fiat’s special coachwork department to Autobianchi. The first cabriolet example dates back to 1958: a folding top was fitted onto a convertible body with the upper roof section removed. This prototype, commissioned by an eccentric American billionaire, was not pursued further. Only the following year did Luigi Rapi design the bodywork from scratch to create a true cabriolet capable of rolling off the assembly line. Autobianchi’s commercial management was convinced that this production Bianchina cabriolet (the smallest in the world) could represent a sound investment, including for foreign markets. This example we are offering was registered in May 1960 and can therefore be defined as a “pre-series” model. Very rare and sought-after vehicle. It was the 219th built by Autobianchi. After years of research, we have never encountered one with a lower chassis number than this example. It is believed to be the Bianchina Cabriolet with the lowest chassis number still in circulation. Acquired by us in 2021, it has undergone a complete and professional restoration. Available for sale.
