Description: The first mass-produced FIAT-branded vehicle with front-wheel drive. The 128 is also characterized by other innovative technical choices: the four-wheel independent suspension consisted of a MacPherson strut layout at the front and a transverse leaf spring suspension at the rear, which also functioned as an anti-roll bar. At its debut, only one engine was available: a new 1,116 cc inline four-cylinder producing 55 hp, featuring an overhead camshaft driven by a rubber toothed belt that directly operated the tappets without the use of rocker arms. The top speed was stated to be approximately 140 km/h. The “128” was an immediate sales success throughout Europe, even winning the Car of the Year award in 1970. This particular example we are offering is exceptionally well-preserved and still has that new-car smell. An exciting find. Available for sale.
